Born out of a passionate love for the Stone Roses, Mondays, Charlatans, and everything that went with that era, DJs Dan and Andy masterminded Fools Gold in April 1995 at Reading's After Dark Club.

Ok, actually DJs Dan and Andy were so skint they couldn't buy any more new records. So they decided a retro night would keep them in business without the need for a fleecing by Green River Records ever arising again.

After a resounding success on the opening night, Fools Gold became a fortnightly feature at the After Dark Club. But sadly, Reading could only take so much old school indie, and audiences dwindled. So to keep the night the special event it should be, Reading's hardest working DJs decided that infrequent one-off spectaculars were the way forward.
